I just love making banners when the cause is just!

Patsy Ashe thought up the idea for this one.

WOMEN IN BLACK

A movement for peace begun by Israeli and Palestinian women in 1988, Women in Black has spread to many countries. Armidale participants gather outside the Courthouse at 10.30am on the last Saturday of the month for a silent half-hour vigil. All women are invited to stand with us.

"We are silent because mere words cannot express the tragedy that wars and hatred bring. Our silence is visible.

"We wear black as a symbol of sorrow for all victims of war, for the destruction of people, nature and the fabric of life."

 I also support:

  • MSF (Medecins Sans Frontiers)

  • Amnesty International

  • UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for Refugees)

  • AVAAZ

  • Jewish Voice for Peace

Since I'm not Jewish myself, I've never felt entitled to call myself a formal member of this truly admirable organisation: but I am a sincere regular supporter. From my reading I've come to see the members as extremely moral, open-minded, compassionate, brave and just.
